BINUS Group – Joseph Wibowo Documentary - 2025
“Honoring a legacy through truthful, cohesive, and impactful storytelling.”

The Brief
Binus wanted to create a documentary in remembrance of its founder, Joseph Wibowo Hadipoespito—a figure who profoundly shaped the university’s culture and values. The goal was to allow the Binusian community to get to know him through stories told by his sons and grandson, who now lead the institution.
The Challenge
Telling the life story of a national education pioneer and independence hero, spanning from birth to death, required a narrative that was cohesive, respectful, truthful, and emotionally impactful. Coordinating schedules and interviews with multiple high-level stakeholders, including BoDs and C-suite executives, added a layer of logistical complexity.
The Process
We conducted in-depth interviews with those closest to him, gathering roughly 10 hours of raw footage. Extensive research, from books to online archives, ensured historical accuracy and context. To overcome gaps in archival materials, we used generative AI to recreate missing photos, and re-shot key scenes to illustrate pivotal moments in his life. All elements were carefully woven to honor his legacy and present a compelling, authentic story.
Deliverables
A nine-minute documentary that combines interviews, research-based visuals, and recreated scenes to tell the founder’s story comprehensively and meaningfully. The full video can be seen here.
The Result
The documentary was presented at an internal awarding event, evoking nostalgia, smiles, and tears from those who knew him. The video was particularly meaningful to his family, earning personal thanks from his sons and leaving a lasting emotional impact on the Binusian community.
