BINUS Group – Joseph Wibowo Documentary

“Honoring a legacy through truthful, cohesive, and impactful storytelling.”

The Brief

Binus wanted to create a documentary in remembrance of its founder, Joseph Wibowo Hadipoespito—a figure who profoundly shaped the university’s culture and values. The goal was to allow the Binusian community to get to know him through stories told by his sons and grandson, who now lead the institution.

The Challenge

Telling the life story of a national education pioneer and independence hero, spanning from birth to death, required a narrative that was cohesive, respectful, truthful, and emotionally impactful. Coordinating schedules and interviews with multiple high-level stakeholders, including BoDs and C-suite executives, added a layer of logistical complexity.

The Process

We conducted in-depth interviews with those closest to him, gathering roughly 10 hours of raw footage. Extensive research, from books to online archives, ensured historical accuracy and context. To overcome gaps in archival materials, we used generative AI to recreate missing photos, and re-shot key scenes to illustrate pivotal moments in his life. All elements were carefully woven to honor his legacy and present a compelling, authentic story.

Deliverables

A nine-minute documentary that combines interviews, research-based visuals, and recreated scenes to tell the founder’s story comprehensively and meaningfully. The full video can be seen here.

The Result

The documentary was presented at an internal awarding event, evoking nostalgia, smiles, and tears from those who knew him. The video was particularly meaningful to his family, earning personal thanks from his sons and leaving a lasting emotional impact on the Binusian community.

BINUS University – Impactful Scholarship

“Showcasing program impact through authentic, emotionally resonant storytelling.”

The Brief

BINUS wanted to highlight the impact of their scholarship programs by sharing authentic stories from both the university’s and recipients’ perspectives. The goal was to create content that communicated the transformative power of the scholarships in a compelling, human-centered way.

The Challenge

Translating academic and testimonial content into a narrative that is emotionally engaging yet professional posed a challenge. The story needed to feel authentic, connect with audiences, and reflect BINUS’s credibility as an educational institution.

The Process

We started by conducting in-depth interviews with scholarship recipients, focusing on their personal journeys, challenges, and achievements. These stories were mapped into clear emotional arcs to ensure the narrative would resonate with viewers.

To visualize the impact of the scholarships, we combined candid interview footage with illustrative studio shoots, showing both the students’ academic progress and the tangible difference they are making in their communities. Throughout production, careful attention was given to pacing, tone, and visual storytelling to balance authenticity with BINUS’s professional brand identity.

Deliverables

A five-minute storytelling video blending interviews and illustrative visuals, designed to communicate the personal and societal impact of BINUS scholarships in a clear and compelling way.

The Result

The video successfully conveyed the transformative power of the scholarship programs, becoming a key piece for promotion and outreach. It not only engaged prospective students but also resonated with current students and alumni, inspiring interest in the programs and reinforcing BINUS’s reputation as an institution committed to nurturing talent and making a meaningful impact.

BINUS Group – Theresia Widia Story

Honoring founder’s legacy through film, transforming an actor into beloved historical figure using AI.

The Brief

On the anniversary of the founder’s passing, Binus commissioned a short biography film to honor her legacy and share her passion, kindness, and vision with the Binusian community. The objective was to create an inspirational and emotionally resonant story that reminded staff of the founder’s identity, values, and the heart behind the institution.

The Challenge

The primary challenge was conveying deep emotion while remaining faithful to the founder’s real life and character. The portrayal needed to feel authentic and respectful, celebrating her humanity without dramatization or compromising the integrity of her legacy.

The Process

To represent the founder with care and accuracy, we utilized AI-assisted face replacement techniques, mapping her likeness onto an actor while preserving subtle emotional expression. This approach allowed us to respectfully visualize her presence while staying true to her real-life appearance.

The narrative was shaped around firsthand stories from individuals who knew her personally, ensuring the film remained grounded in lived experiences rather than fictionalized interpretation.

Deliverables

An 11-minute short biography film depicting three meaningful encounters from the founder’s life, each reflecting one of her core values and crafted to inspire reflection within the Binus community. The full video can be found here.

The Result

The film resonated deeply with audiences, evoking nostalgia and admiration while reinforcing the founder’s enduring impact. It successfully encouraged the Binus community to reflect on and appreciate her kindness, passion, and lasting legacy.

Sunlight – Agen 1000 Sunlight

Documenting real people, real impact, to empower others to take action.

The Brief

Sunlight launched the Agen 1000 program to empower underprivileged housewives by creating opportunities for additional income. Our role was to capture and share the participants’ stories, both as authentic human-interest content for public audiences and as structured reporting for Sunlight’s global stakeholders.

The content needed to communicate real impact on the ground while remaining aligned with Sunlight’s brand values and broader campaign objectives.

The Challenge

Each participant came from a different background, with unique struggles and perspectives. The challenge was to craft cohesive narratives that honored their individual experiences while maintaining clarity, sensitivity, and alignment with Sunlight’s messaging without diluting the authenticity of their voices.

The Process

We traveled to Garut to build genuine connections with three program participants, spending time listening to their stories and understanding their daily realities. These conversations informed the narrative direction and ensured each story was rooted in lived experience rather than scripted messaging.

After developing the storylines, we returned to conduct interviews and capture supporting visuals that illustrated their journeys. This two-stage approach allowed the content to feel personal, respectful, and emotionally grounded.

Deliverables

Three human-interest videos highlighting individual participant stories, along with two global activation reports designed to communicate program impact and insights to Sunlight’s international stakeholders.

The Result

The storytelling resonated strongly with audiences, generating viewer comments that expressed inspiration and interest in joining the program. The content also received positive feedback from both local participants and Sunlight’s global teams, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to meaningful community empowerment.
